October 19, 2016 -
The Oklahoma City metro is invited to join the Carter Community Foundation at its speakeasy on Saturday, November 19, to benefit the Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association at Vast.
Although the focus of the evening is to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahomans who have been instrumental in the fight against Alzheimer’s will be honored. Congressman Tom Cole will be presented the Lifetime Achievement Award for his role in proposing and passing legislation calling for a $300 million increase for Alzheimer’s disease research. Herb Magley, the 2016 Oklahoma City Walk to End Alzheimer’s Chair, will receive the Achievement in Advocacy Award for his selfless efforts to raise awareness and assist the Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association. In 2015, Magley was the top individual fundraiser in the nation.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception sponsored by Arledge & Associates. Following the reception there will be dinner with the awards followed by a live auction. At the conclusion of the live auction, casino games will open for guests to test their luck while listening to live music. A silent auction will also take place throughout the evening.
This year live auction items include a silver necklace from Mitchener Farrand, rights to name a residential street from Block One Communities, a puppy from the Central Oklahoma Humane Society, a weeklong stay in Breckenridge, Colorado, four courtside Oklahoma City Thunder tickets and meet-and-greet passes and concert tickets to Carrie Underwood’s Oklahoma City concert.
Tickets for the evening are available by contacting Kristin Ewing with Carter Healthcare at (405) 947-7700. Tickets are $200 per person and will be available until Friday, November 11. More information about the benefit can be found at http://foundation.carterhealthcare.com.
An additional way for community members to support Carter Community Foundation’s efforts for the Alzheimer’s Association is to dine at S&B Burger Joint located at 14020 N. May and leaving their receipt at the front for 20 percent to be donated.
